We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced CNC Machinist to join a well-established and growing engineering business based in Blackwood. The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC machinery to manufacture high-quality precision components to tight tolerances.

This role is based on a permanent afternoon shift pattern:

• Monday – Wednesday: 2:00pm – 12:00am
• Thursday: 2:00pm – 10:00pm

Key Responsibilities

• Set, program, and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines.
• Produce precision-engineered components from technical drawings and specifications.
• Program CNC machines using engineering drawings and load programs via Fanuc and Heidenhain controls.
• Use OneCNC software (training provided if required).
• Select suitable tooling, speeds, and feeds for optimal machining performance.
• Set fixtures, clamps, and angle plates to securely hold components.
• Machine a range of materials including stainless steel, aluminium, hardened steels, mild steel, and engineering plastics.
• Inspect finished components to ensure quality standards and tolerances are met.
• Carry out basic machine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
• Troubleshoot machining issues to minimise downtime and maintain productivity.
• Follow all health & safety procedures and company standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience operating CNC milling and/or turning machines.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• CNC programming experience is essential.
• Experience with Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances.
• Reliable and able to work permanent afternoon shifts.
• Right to work in the UK.
