JDR Recruitment are recruiting for a Counter Balance FLT Driver / Yard Operative based in Garstang, Preston.

Job Purpose

To support the safe and efficient movement, storage, and loading of goods within the yard or warehouse using a counterbalance forklift, ensuring all operations meet company and health & safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate a counterbalance forklift truck safely and efficiently
Load and unload vehicles (lorries, vans) with goods/materials
Move and stack products within the yard or warehouse
Carry out daily checks on forklift equipment and report defects
Ensure stock is stored correctly and securely
Assist with picking, packing, and order preparation if required
Maintain yard cleanliness and organisation
Follow all health & safety procedures and regulations at all times
Communicate effectively with colleagues, drivers, and supervisors
Complete relevant paperwork and stock records

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

Previous Counterbalance FLT experience
Candidates will be trained inhouse on the Side Loader Trucks
Previous experience in a yard or warehouse environment
Strong understanding of health & safety practices
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills
Reliable and punctual

Desirable:

Experience working in construction, timber, or heavy materials yards
Basic IT or stock control system knowledge
Experience operating a Side Loader truck

Physical Requirements

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Manual handling and lifting (up to [e.g., 25kg])
Standing and moving for extended periods

Working Hours

Monday – Friday 7:30am – 5pm

Salary

£13.50 per hour

Ongoing work leading to permanent for the right candidate
