Dairy Farm Adviser – Antrim

Location: DAERA, Mallusk
Pay: Approx. £21.35 per hour
Hours: 37 hours | Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
Contract: Temporary assignment – 19 October 2026 to 30 June 2027

JDR Recruitment is recruiting a Dairy Farm Adviser for a Northern Ireland Civil Service assignment with DAERA / CAFRE.

This role will work directly with dairy farmers, providing practical technical advice and supporting improvements in farm productivity, profitability and sustainability.

The Role

You will:

• Manage and facilitate discussion groups for dairy farmers.
• Plan and deliver farmer group meetings.
• Mentor individual farmers between meetings.
• Review farm performance against sustainability and profitability benchmarks.
• Help farmers develop practical improvement plans.
• Encourage adoption of new technologies and farming practices.
• Provide technical support to CAFRE knowledge-transfer and innovation programmes.
• Communicate technical information through farmer meetings, press and social media.
• Support wider CAFRE and DAERA activities as required.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must hold an Honours Degree in Agriculture or a related discipline.

Candidates must also have strong technical knowledge relevant to the dairy sector and be capable of communicating practical agricultural information effectively to farmers.

Previous experience working directly with farmers or farmer groups would be advantageous.

The successful applicant must also have access to suitable transport to meet the travel requirements of the role.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate will be required to complete the relevant pre-employment checks and obtain Enhanced security clearance.
