Equine Instructor – CAFRE Enniskillen Campus

Location: Enniskillen Campus
Pay Rate: Approx. £17.43 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Temporary Agency Assignment
Start Date: 5 October 2026
Expected End Date: 21 May 2027

JDR Recruitment is recruiting an Equine Instructor to support education and practical equine activities at CAFRE Enniskillen Campus.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on equine experience and a relevant qualification to work within a professional education and training environment.

The Role

Key duties will include:

  • Planning, setting up and delivering practical equine classes across racing, equitation and breeding units.

  • Supporting lecturers, instructors and industrial staff with practical education and knowledge-transfer activities.

  • Supervising and supporting learners in both on-campus and off-campus activities.

  • Monitoring student attendance, progress and assessment information.

  • Assisting students with dissertation-related practical work and data capture.

  • Carrying out day-to-day equine management duties.

  • Recording information relating to the equine units.

  • Ensuring practical activities are conducted in accordance with CAFRE Health & Safety procedures.

  • Driving departmental vehicles and undertaking towing duties where appropriately licensed.

  • Assisting with general estate and farm duties as required.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • At least 4 GCSEs/GCE O Levels at Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics, or equivalent.

  • A Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management, or a closely related subject.

  • A full current driving licence valid for driving in Northern Ireland.

Essential Experience

Applicants must have:

  • At least one year’s relevant experience working in an equine setting.

Desirable

It would be advantageous to have:

  • A teaching qualification and/or teaching experience.

  • A driving licence including Category B+E trailer entitlement.

  • City & Guilds or NPTC Certificate of Competence in Livestock Transportation – Short Journeys.

Working Pattern

The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday, approximately 9.00am-5.00pm.

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate may also be required to work outside normal hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

The assignment is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks and Enhanced security clearance.
