Job Title: Facilities Technician
Pay: £37,000 to £42,000 per annum (DOE) + paid overtime
Location: St Athan, South Wales
Hours: 39 hours per week

• Monday to Thursday: 06:15 to 15:15
• Friday: 06:15 to 11:15

Contract Type: Permanent

Intro to the Role

We are partnering with a leading facilities management and engineering business to recruit a Facilities Technician for a permanent position based in St Athan.

The purpose of this role is to carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a large commercial site. You’ll work as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team, helping to keep facilities, building services and plant equipment operating safely and efficiently while supporting continuous improvement and maintaining high health and safety standards.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:

Essential

• NVQ Level 2 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• 18th Edition Electrical qualification
• IPAF licence
• Experience working in a facilities maintenance or building services environment
• Knowledge of:
• HVAC systems
• Electrical distribution systems (415V LV)
• Compressed air systems
• Gas boilers and burners
• Water treatment systems
• CAFM, CMMS or BMS systems
• Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable

• HNC or NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
• Electrical Inspection & Testing qualification
• Gas Safe qualification
• Forklift licence
• F-Gas certification
• Basic PLC programming experience
• Experience within an automotive or manufacturing environment

Day to Day

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
• Responding to reactive maintenance requests across the site
• Repairing and maintaining building fabric and facilities equipment
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently
• Supporting improvements to maintenance systems and procedures
• Managing and coordinating specialist contractors when required
• Completing maintenance records accurately
• Following all health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work
• Supporting site KPI targets and continuous improvement initiatives
• Taking part in an out-of-hours reactive maintenance rota when required
