The Opportunity

As a Finance Assistant, you’ll become an integral member of the finance team, supporting all aspects of the accounts function including purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll administration, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end processes.

This is a varied position that offers exposure to both finance and operational activities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys a diverse workload and wants to broaden their experience within a thriving business.

Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider team, you’ll help ensure financial processes remain accurate, compliant, and efficient while supporting colleagues across the organisation when required.


Key Responsibilities

Purchase & Sales Ledger

  • Process purchase and sales ledger transactions accurately

  • Match, code, and post supplier invoices

  • Prepare supplier payment runs

  • Manage customer accounts and credit control activities

  • Resolve supplier and customer account queries professionally

Banking & Financial Administration

  • Complete daily bank reconciliations

  • Allocate cash receipts accurately

  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation

  • Assist with month-end accounting procedures

  • Support the preparation of VAT returns and financial reports

Payroll Support

  • Assist with payroll administration

  • Review payroll reports for accuracy

  • Liaise with outsourced payroll providers to resolve queries

  • Support payroll processing and related administration

Reporting & Operational Support

  • Produce and cross-check financial and operational reports

  • Assist with maintaining accurate management information

  • Support cash handling activities during periods of absence or increased demand

  • Answer telephone enquiries and assist with general operational administration when required

  • Provide ad hoc administrative support to the Finance Manager


What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience

βœ” Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Accounts Administrator, or similar finance position

βœ” Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles

βœ” Experience using Sage 50 Accounts or similar accounting software

βœ” Good working knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Excel

  • Microsoft Word

  • Microsoft Office Suite

βœ” Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail

βœ” Strong organisational and time management skills

βœ” Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines

βœ” Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

βœ” Professional and confidential approach when handling financial information

βœ” Positive, flexible attitude with a willingness to support wider business operations

Desirable

βœ” Previous payroll administration experience

βœ” Experience working within a fast-paced commercial environment

Working Hours

Monday – Friday

9:30am – 5:30pm
