£16.35 per hour – paid weekly, every Friday

About the Role

We are recruiting an LGV Class 2 Refuse Collection Driver to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team delivering vital waste collection services across the Barnsley borough. You will play an essential role in keeping the community clean, safe, and well‑served.

This is a primarily driving-based role, operating a 26‑tonne refuse collection vehicle, but you may be required to support with loading when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely drive and operate a Class 2 (LGV) refuse collection vehicle.
• Work collaboratively within a waste collection team to complete daily routes.
• Supervise waste operatives and manage day‑to‑day operational tasks.
• Maintain paper or electronic records using handheld devices as required.
• Ensure all activities comply with Health & Safety standards and procedures.
• Provide excellent service to the community and respond to local priorities

Working Hours

• Tuesday to Friday, 37 hours per week (09:25 hours per day).
• Start time: 6am – Finish: 3:45pm.

What We’re Looking For

• Valid LGV Class 2 licence (C).
• Experience driving large vehicles (26 tonnes preferred).
• Ability to lead and work well within a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to safe working practices and high-quality service delivery.
