Management Accountant

We are are looking for a Company Accountant to take control of the finance for this small group of companies in Preston. This is a well established service organisation who are well known and respected across the region for providing services to both industrial clients and private customers.

The role of the Company Accountant is taking responsibility for all management accountants and dealing with the external accountant who you will have communication with during the year.

You need to be an established accountant who can take responsibility for all accounting functions across the business. You will managed the department of 2 ledger clerks under the remit of your role. The role is responsible for turnover of approximately 5 million per annum.

The client is a family business and whilst procedures are in place this could be an opportunity to implement and improve systems and procedures. You will be responsible for the full reporting of accounts and must come with proven experience of working in a role where you have had full autonomy. Whilst AAT and ACCA is preferred, equivalent professional experience would be considered.

Day to day role:

• Accounts for the group (3)
• Analysis of data (stock) for accounting purposes weekly
• Cash Control and Bank Reconciliation
• Banking and management including collection of money from retail outlet (banking)
• Overseeing Purchase Ledger
• Responsibility for Payment Runs
• Accruals
• Various reporting (excel)
• Inter-company transfers
• Compliance
• Payroll for staff Monthly
• Journals
• Fixed Assets
• P&L
• Balance Sheets
• Petty Cash
• Credit Management
• Current Accounting package Quick books and an internal system for stock

This role is working 5 days a week – Flexible 40 hours per week (between 7.45 – 5.15 early finish Friday)

The client is looking for a handover period of around 1 month and therefore we are looking at holding interviews in the forthcoming weeks to appointment the new starter by the beginning of 2027.
