JDR Recruitment is partnering with a leading provider of specialist power generation and energy solutions to recruit an experienced Operations Engineer.

As an Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault diagnosis, and operational optimisation on a range of energy generation installations throughout Cardiff and the surrounding region.
Working directly with customers, you will play a vital role in ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while delivering exceptional levels of customer service.
This role offers a varied workload, technical challenges, and the opportunity to work with advanced power generation technologies in a growing and future-focused industry.
Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on customer installations
Diagnose faults and perform reactive maintenance and repairs
Conduct inspections and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment
Ensure equipment operates efficiently and in accordance with manufacturer specifications
Complete all maintenance documentation accurately and on time
Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational faults
Investigate system performance issues and implement corrective actions
Minimise equipment downtime through effective troubleshooting and repair
Escalate complex technical issues where required
Monitor and optimise system performance to improve efficiency
Identify opportunities to reduce waste, downtime, and operating costs
Support customers in achieving maximum productivity from their installations
Ensure compliance with operational and safety standards
Build positive relationships with customers and site personnel
Provide technical support and advice when required
Maintain high levels of professionalism while working on customer sites
Ensure customer satisfaction is achieved through effective service delivery
Follow all health and safety procedures and safe systems of work
Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards
Maintain company equipment, tools, and vehicles in a safe condition
Participate in emergency call-out support when required
β ONC, NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds Level 2, or equivalent qualification in:
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Motor Vehicle Studies
Related Engineering Discipline
β Time-served engineering technician
β Minimum of three years’ industrial mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience
β Strong working knowledge of:
Gas engines
Diesel engines
Mechanical systems
Electrical systems
Industrial maintenance environments
β Experience carrying out fault finding, maintenance, and repair work
β Excellent communication and customer service skills
β Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office
β Full valid UK driving licence

Monday – Friday
8:00am – 4:30pm
Participation in an established 24-hour call-out rota
Occasional weekend working
Out-of-hours attendance when operational requirements dictate
