Production Operative

Slabber – Ongoing Position

Location: New Mills
Pay: £12.60 per hour + £1.79 shift allowance (£14.39 per hour total)

JDR Recruitment are currently seeking reliable and hardworking individuals for an ongoing Slabber position in New Mills. This is a long-term opportunity offering consistent hours, full training, and a stable working environment within a busy production setting.

Shift Pattern

Week 1:
Monday to Thursday: 05:30 – 13:30
Friday: 05:30 – 11:30

Week 2:
Monday to Thursday: 13:30 – 21:30
Friday: 11:30 – 17:30

This is a rotating 2-week shift pattern.

About the Role

The Slabber role is a key position within the production process. You will be responsible for handling and processing batches of melted chew mixture used in confectionery production.

Duties include:

• Lifting bins and trays of melted chew mixture

• Transferring product onto a temperature-controlled slabbing table

• Cutting and turning the mixture as it cools

• Feeding product into compression machinery

• Supporting the machine process where the product is shaped, cut, and wrapped

• Carrying out basic machine operation tasks

• Maintaining hygiene and safety standards at all times

This role involves regular heavy lifting and manual handling, so applicants must be physically fit, strong, and able to work on their feet for extended periods. Breaks are provided during the slabbing process.

• Willing to learn and follow procedures

• Previous manufacturing or production experience beneficial but not essential
