360 Excavator Grab Operative

We are looking for an experienced 360 Excavator Grab Operative to join our busy scrap metal recycling client based in Llanelli. You will be responsible for operating a range of material‑handling machines equipped with grabs, magnets, or shears to move, sort and load scrap metal safely and efficiently.

This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role in a heavy‑industrial environment – perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors and operating large machinery as part of a strong, supportive team.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Operating material handlers/cranes to move, load and process ferrous and non‑ferrous scrap
• Loading and unloading lorries, skips and processing equipment
• Sorting and stockpiling material using grab/magnet attachments
• Carrying out daily pre‑use checks and reporting defects
• Working closely with yard staff, drivers and supervisors
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment
• Following all site safety procedures and traffic management rules

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience operating a crane/material handler in a scrap yard, recycling facility, or similar industrial setting
• Strong awareness of safety in high‑risk environments
• Ability to control machine movements smoothly and accurately
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Qualifications Required

• Valid crane/material handler competency certificate (NPORS, CPCS or in‑house equivalent)
• Experience using grabs, magnets or shears (preferred)
• Physically fit for heavy‑industrial work
