The Opportunity

As Group Technical Trainer, you will play a key role in supporting the onboarding, development, and ongoing competence of engineering and operational personnel across the organisation.

Working closely with the Training & Development team, operational managers, and technical specialists, you will help develop, deliver, and continuously improve training programmes that support both individual development and organisational objectives.

You will contribute to the creation of engaging learning materials, practical training programmes, assessments, and competency frameworks while ensuring training remains aligned with evolving technologies, engineering standards, industry best practices, and compliance requirements.

This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to influence training strategy, drive continuous improvement, and support the growth of technical excellence throughout the business.


Key Responsibilities

Training Development & Delivery

  • Develop and support technical training programmes for engineering and operational teams

  • Create and maintain training manuals, presentations, assessments, e-learning modules, and practical training exercises

  • Deliver technical training sessions to employees across multiple locations

  • Support onboarding and development programmes for new starters

  • Assist in the evaluation and assessment of employee competence and development needs

Content Creation & Continuous Improvement

  • Update training materials to reflect new technologies, engineering standards, systems, and industry best practices

  • Ensure training content remains accurate, engaging, and relevant

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across technical training programmes

  • Monitor training effectiveness and recommend enhancements where required

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with departmental managers to align training objectives with business requirements

  • Liaise with third-party training providers and external partners

  • Support operational teams by identifying skills gaps and development opportunities

  • Assist in the implementation of company-wide training initiatives

Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation

  • Support compliance with internal training procedures and ISO requirements

  • Produce reports and training metrics to support business objectives

  • Ensure training activities align with company standards and regulatory requirements


What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

βœ” Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline, including:

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Manufacturing Engineering

  • Systems Engineering

  • Related Engineering Discipline

OR

βœ” Equivalent practical engineering experience

Essential Skills & Knowledge

βœ” Strong technical or operational experience within a relevant engineering environment

βœ” Comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, including:

  • Mechanical systems

  • Electrical systems

  • Manufacturing processes

  • Automation technologies

  • CAD/CAM systems

  • Systems engineering

βœ” Strong organisational and reporting skills with an understanding of training procedures and ISO requirements

βœ” Experience using engineering tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical software

βœ” Proven ability to coach, mentor, train, or support the development of others, whether formally or informally

βœ” Practical experience working with relevant engineering equipment, systems, tools, and processes

βœ” Ability to learn and apply structured training methodologies and competency assessment techniques

βœ” Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to individuals at varying levels of experience

βœ” Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including:

  • Word

  • Excel

  • PowerPoint

βœ” Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments

βœ” Full UK driving licence

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm

Friday: 8:30am – 4:00pm

This role will require flexibility to travel and work across multiple locations, including operational sites, training facilities, and customer locations.
