Mapping & Charting Officer – Belfast

Location: Lanyon Plaza, Belfast
Pay: Approx. £17.43 per hour
Hours: 37 hours | Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
Contract: Temporary assignment – 5 October 2026 to 26 March 2027

JDR Recruitment is recruiting a Mapping & Charting Officer for a Northern Ireland Civil Service assignment with Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland (OSNI).

Working within OSNI’s Stakeholder Engagement team, the successful candidate will support customers, geospatial products and services, stakeholder engagement and the maintenance of OSNI’s Historical Mapping Archive.

The Role

You will:

• Respond to customer and internal queries relating to OSNI products and services.
• Process historical mapping archive orders and maintain accurate records.
• Help maintain OSNI’s digital and physical historical archive.
• Support stakeholder engagement, customer surveys and market research.
• Assist with product releases, customer communications and feedback.
• Review and interpret data for operational reports.
• Support product documentation, quality assurance and archive indexing.
• Assist with OSNI communications and social media content.
• Attend meetings and events with customers, suppliers and stakeholders.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must hold a minimum Level 4 qualification, such as a BTEC Higher National Certificate or equivalent/higher, in a relevant subject containing a significant Land Surveying or GIS element, for example:

• Civil Engineering with Surveying
• Geographical Information Systems
• Geography
• Physical Sciences
• Computing Sciences

Experience in a customer-facing or multi-stakeholder environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate will be required to complete the relevant pre-employment checks and obtain Basic security clearance.
