Start Date: Immediate
Shift: Monday to Friday, 7am – 3:30pm

Additional Information: Preferred construction experience

Contract: Ongoing, with temp-to-perm opportunities

JDR Recruitment are currently looking for a reliable and hard-working Production Operative to join our client’s team based in Pontypool. This is a great opportunity for long-term work with the potential to go permanent.

The Role:

Set up, operate and carry out basic daily maintenance on brick cutting machines, using both manual and mechanical methods. Safely carry out brick cutting and bonding tasks while working as part of the team to meet daily production targets. Help improve the way we work by producing the right quality and quantity of products on time. Support high standards of productivity, health and safety, quality, equipment maintenance and storage, while contributing to the company’s success and growth.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Meet daily production targets set by the Team Leader.
  • Carry out daily safety, equipment, and machine checks before each shift.
  • Produce quality products safely and within agreed timescales.
  • Follow customer specifications, engineering drawings, and job sheets.
  • Maintain quality standards, complete QA documentation, and accurately mix glue and pigments as required.
  • Complete production, maintenance, and repair records accurately and on time.
  • Report jobs nearing completion to the Team Leader.
  • Support colleagues and maintain good working relationships.
  • Ensure all jobs are correctly labelled.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, PPE compliance, and Health & Safety.
  • Inspect, maintain, clean, and correctly store equipment, reporting any defects.
  • Participate in training, meetings, and risk assessments.
  • Follow company policies and contribute to continuous improvement and the efficient running of the business.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A good understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace.
  • The ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
  • Experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Basic mechanical maintenance skills.
  • Getting the job done and meeting targets.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • A methodical approach with great attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
  • Experience in the construction industry (preferred).
