We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established environmental services organisation for a reliable and customer-focused Household Waste & Recycling Centre Operative to provide ad hoc cover at their busy site in Whitland.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for flexible, part-time work in a role that helps support local communities and promotes recycling and sustainability.

The Role

Working as part of a friendly site team, you will assist members of the public with the safe disposal and segregation of household waste and recyclable materials, ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently and to a high standard of customer service.

Shifts are offered on an ad hoc basis to cover holidays, sickness and periods of increased demand, with working hours of 8:30am – 2:30pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting customers with the correct disposal of household waste and recyclable materials.
  • Providing excellent customer service and offering guidance on recycling procedures.
  • Monitoring the site to ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Directing vehicles safely around the site where required.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and well-organised working environment.
  • Helping maximise recycling rates by encouraging correct waste segregation.
  • Reporting any health and safety concerns, incidents or damaged equipment.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the site.

What We’re Looking For

  • A positive, approachable and customer-focused attitude.
  • Good communication skills and confidence when dealing with members of the public.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • A strong awareness of health and safety.
  • Reliable, punctual and flexible with availability for ad hoc shifts.
  • Previous experience in waste management, recycling, environmental services, labouring or customer service is advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided.
