Industrial Ranger – Peatlands Park

Location: Peatlands Park, Dungannon
Pay Rate: Approx. £13.75 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Temporary Agency Assignment
Start Date: 5 October 2026
Expected End Date: 28 February 2027
Working Pattern: Any 5 days from 7, including weekends and public holidays

JDR Recruitment is recruiting an Industrial Ranger to support DAERA/NIEA operations at Peatlands Park, Dungannon.

This is a varied outdoor role involving estate maintenance, visitor support, site security and general operational duties within one of Northern Ireland’s country parks.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the day-to-day operational management of Peatlands Park and, occasionally, other NIEA properties.

  • Opening, closing and checking the security of buildings.

  • Setting alarms where required.

  • Patrolling sites and buildings and supporting the enforcement of relevant byelaws.

  • Encouraging responsible behaviour by visitors.

  • Assisting members of the public and providing a welcoming visitor experience.

  • Completing scheduled health and safety checks.

  • Maintaining site records including visitor numbers, complaints, patrol reports and health & safety inspections.

  • Reporting operational issues to local management.

  • Maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, landowners and the local community.

  • Carrying out outdoor and general estate maintenance.

  • Cleaning and carrying out minor maintenance of buildings.

  • Litter collection.

  • Operating hand tools, minor plant, machinery and vehicles following appropriate training.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A clean driving licence.

  • Experience in general estate maintenance, including grass cutting.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

There is no specific formal qualification required for this assignment.

Desirable Experience

Enhanced or broader experience in general estate maintenance would be advantageous.

Working Pattern

The successful candidate will work:

37 hours per week
Any 5 days out of 7, including weekends and public holidays.

Working hours will generally fall within the range of approximately 8.30am-5.00pm, depending on the rota and operational requirements.

Additional Information

The successful candidate will be required to complete the relevant pre-employment checks and obtain Standard security clearance.

This role would suit someone who enjoys practical outdoor work and has experience in grounds, estate, parks or general site maintenance.
